After some time in the winter docks, the crew led by Dani Macaco puts out to sea again and sails aboard a show which, with slight but very exciting variations when compared with the one that conquered Spain last summer, will be reaching port at Málaga, Barcelona, and even cities miles away from the sea like Madrid and Vitoria.

This is just one more proof of the lasting value in full force of “Puerto Presente” (Mundo Zurdo-EMI, 2009), the fifth album in Macaco’s career which goes on achieving impressive figures–Platinum status, sixty weeks on the sales charts–and accruing awards adding to the ones already received; Ondas Award for Best Album, 40 Principales Award for Best Video (Moving),  Music Award for Best Video (Moving), Rolling Stone Award, nominated both to the Latin Grammy’s for Best Alternative Song (Moving) and for the MTV Europe Awards for Best Spanish Artist of the Year.

PRESS RELEASE FROM AxA (ARTISTS FOR AMINATU)

Please let Sahrawi human rights pacifist activist Aminatu Haidar return home,

… and let travel trouble free to El Aaiún–the capital of Western Sahara–illegally managed by Morocco since 1975. Please allow her to rejoin her children back home soon. Aminatu Haidar has been awarded several prizes for her fight for human rights, prestigious awards such as The Robert F. Kennedy Foundation Award, The Juan Mari Bandrés Award, and the European Parliament Award among others, as well as having been recently shortlisted for the Nobel Peace Award.
We are pleading fro solidarity with this pacifist activist woman fighting for the human rights of the Sahrawi people. Since Friday, November 13th she’s been hold at the Lanzarote airport (Canary Islands, Spain.) In protest, she went on a hunger strike, and we are giving her all our support. Appealing for a free Sahara as well as respect and observance of the UN resolutions both by the Spanish and Moroccan governments.
On this occasion, we’ve organized a concert; a solidarity gesture marathon, which will take place this coming Sunday November 29th, from 12 pm, at the Pilar Bardem auditorium in Rivas Vaciamadrid. Also, between 1:30 and 2 pm there will be a videoconference Rivas/Lanzarote airport with Aminatu Haidar.
The actors and actresses making up the support group will be bearing witness of their stay at the Sahrawi camps, reciting some Sahrawi poem, reading a manifesto and letters from other colleagues who can not be attending the action.
