DANI “MACACO” STATEMENT

This times that we are living in carry troubled waters, contradictory tides, hidden treasures that float to the surface by sheer chance of currents and shipwrecks run aground resulting from unexpected rather sudden changes of course. In days of “undertow” (hangover) is when we can most clearly see that which is not working, the outdated, the deficiencies of a cartography full of miscalculations and mistakes.
The above preamble could serve to introduce some events which even myself –the main victim– can’t get to understand (any explanation, suggestion or help will be welcomed.) I’m trying to hold my anger and deliver my words using a politically correct language ‘cause otherwise, one of the many legal traps might find some room in my little free and colourful world undermining our route map. Many of you might have guessed what I’m trying to say (I don’t know if I succeed) about my astonishment and surprise for the unlawful and illegal use of my “Moving” song in the ad of the Spanish Falange political campaign. I can’t be bothered to start explaining what the Falange is all about, what it should be and where it should be, since I would find myself again swimming in this whirlpool of verbal diarrhoea which makes phonetics gain prominence by drowning the content in the deep ocean.

Surrounded by so much false ground, exposed to blunders and slips in the legal world, all I can ask to the different media which are broadcasting the campaign is to stop for a second and take a closer look at this ad so they can listen to a soundtrack raped by completely opposing images, and turn it into a silent film, leaving out the melody and rhythm of this “Moving” song which belongs to me and to the people who so-dearly have taken it. We don’t want to be some kind of score for an orchestra made up of slogans and passwords totally opposed to our (my) beliefs.

Indeed, I agree to sail through rolling waters (our society and its legal framework) and, as adventurer and crewmember, I’m using and I’ll keep on using all the available rows to shift the course of my boat (i.e. lawyers, lawsuits, court trials.) But we all know that these messages in a bottle that we are throwing into the open sea will lead to a safe port. Meanwhile, the falangists, aware of the shortcuts and usual delays happening in legal procedures (unfortunately I’m not their only victim), they’ve already won. How? Managing to make us talk about them; finding the appropriate controversy at the right moment is yet the best free promotion possible. I admit my defeat in this universe of ruses and strategies but, as well as admitting my ignorance in this game, I also trust the word of mouth which has given me so many good results up to this “Moving” track, simple and clear, written and created for other purposes.
